School Committee members want to know what they should do about the superintendent and the possibly illegal special education payments. The answer is obvious. They should take off their blinders and independently investigate all of the allegations. They should determine for themselves if anything unethical, improper or illegal took place on their watch.
The chairman of the School Committee said repeatedly that she did not know if any outside investigations were actually taking place. Whether or not this is true, it is irrelevant. The School Committee should not be waiting to see if someone is indicted or sanctioned. The School Committee should be finding out for themselves what happened and then taking appropriate action based upon the facts. I am certain that they would have no trouble learning the truth if they looked.
