Town Hall to close early Aug. 12
Town Hall will close at noon Wednesday, Aug. 12, for an annual cookout held by the Finance Director.
Final seasonal water chestnut weed pull scheduled
The Harvard Bare Hill Pond Water Management Committee is sponsoring the third and final seasonal water chestnut weed harvest Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. Water chestnut is a non-native species of plant that threatens swimming, boating and fishing by crowding the shorelines with a mass of underwater vegetation. The weeds can easily be eradicated by volunteers and water enthusiasts willing to help out for a couple hours of time. Volunteers should bring their own canoes, boats, or kayaks to the town beach and will be given buckets and instructions on how to help remove the weeds. Some town canoes may available on a first-come, first-served basis. State law requires all boaters to have mandatory safety gear which includes life jackets and a whistle or other auditory warning device. Children volunteering with their parents will receive a free coupon for Kimball’s ice cream while the supply lasts.
