Found wonder in the world

Margaret Ann James lost her three-year battle with leukemia on July 4 at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis. Meg fought her illness with remarkable bravery. She never lost her curiosity and wonder at the world around her and her joy in the small things of life. She kept her sense of humor and her capacity to interact meaningfully with everyone who became a part of her life.
Meg’s parents are Dave and Kari James of Still River Road, and her sister, Carly, is a fifth-grader at Hildreth Elementary School. Her maternal relatives are all in Harvard: grandmother Carlene Phillips; aunt and uncle Rebecca and Don Phillips and cousins Kaitlyn, Kaya, and Olivia; aunt and uncle Kim and Mark L’Ecuyer and cousins Ben, Kelsey, and Natalie. Her paternal grandparents, David and Jean James, live in Lancaster, and aunt and uncle Julie and Randy James and cousins Max and Molly are in Maynard.
The family is so grateful to the community of Harvard, to colleagues in Acton, and friends everywhere for the love and support they received during Meg’s illness. The financial and practical support and the overwhelming extension of love and caring truly made the struggle more bearable.
Meg lived her seven years with unusual intensity and very much on her own terms. She especially loved cats, Ariel, kindergarten, Davis Farmland, and anything purple. Everything in nature intrigued and delighted her, from butterflies to toads. Meg was a great observer and inspired others to look for and delight in the infinite discoveries life offers. She would want us each to find something to marvel at every day of our lives.
You are invited to join the family at Fruitlands Museum on Sunday, July 15, at 4 p.m. to celebrate Meg’s life.
