At 1:27 a.m., police removed barricades that someone had placed in the road at the intersection of Still River and Ayer roads. Police did not spot any suspects at the scene. At 7:59 a.m., a resident of Glenview Drive reported a suspicious vehicle in the driveway. Police say the vehicle belonged to a contractor who had been hired to do work on the home’s deck. At 2:03 p.m., a resident of East Bare Hill Road reported an antique firearm had been stolen from her home. According to police, the woman noticed the gun was missing from a display rack in her home. Police say the weapon was a fully functional pre-1800s style “blunderbuss,” constructed from a kit, worth $255. The incident is still under investigation. At 5:15 p.m., police received a report that a dog that had been previously banned from town was spotted in front of the Harvard General Store. Animal control contacted the owner to remove the dog.
Wednesday, Aug. 15
At 7:27 p.m., a Blanchard Road homeowner reported coming home to find the door kicked in and $6,000 worth of jewelry missing. Police say they are still investigating the break-in.

Friday, Aug. 17
At 1:39 a.m., police responded to the scene of a one-car accident on Ayer Road. According to police, the driver had abandoned the car, locked, at the scene. The car had run into a telephone pole and suffered significant damage, police say. The car was a rental, police say, but they were able to track down the driver using information from the rental company. Police say they are investigating the driver, a Harvard man, on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
Saturday, Aug. 18
At 6:49 a.m., a newspaper delivery person reported spotting a van with out-of-state plates at a home on Old Littleton Road where he thought no one was supposed to be home. Police investigated the incident because, they say, the home had been robbed recently. The van belonged to an owner of the home, police say. At 9:49 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Massachusetts Avenue. Police say they spoke to the driver, who moved the vehicle.
Sunday, Aug. 19
At midnight, a driver reported someone was following him in a white Land Rover on Old Mill Road. Police say they checked the area but could not locate a vehicle matching that description. At 9:10 p.m., police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Massachusetts Avenue. The car belonged to students who were painting the rock in the Bromfield School field, which is allowed.
Monday, Aug. 20
At 11:50 a.m., the Harvard Fire Department responded to a report of a smoldering mattress on the side of Route 2 westbound. The fire department extinguished the fire and took the mattress away. At 12:24 p.m., a resident of Ayer Road reported someone had stolen her Social Security number to use it to file a tax return in her name. According to police, the woman was required to file a police report so federal authorities could open an investigation. At 1:41 p.m., police investigated a report of a hit-and-run accident causing property damage at an Old Mill Road address. Police say a tractor trailer had gone into a yard there while attempting to turn around, causing about $400 worth of damage to grass and logs. Police did not locate the truck.
