Spraying database
Chairman Tom Phillipou proposed developing a database of town residents who would or would not want their property sprayed for mosquitoes.
“Whoa, I think you’re putting the cart before the horse,” said board member Sharon McCarthy. “The town has to vote on whether it’s going to join the mosquito control project.”
“We should make the data collection happen regardless of what’s going to happen with that,” said Phillipou. “We could wait another 10 years…or we can start doing it now, so people won’t have as much work to do and make an easier transition if they do decide to do it or the state compels us to do it.”
The matter was left undecided.
The board requested informational brochures, “Preventing Mosquito Bites,” from the state Department of Public Health that it will put in public places around town, including Town Hall, the library, the Harvard General Store, and the post office.
