Former town employee
Ellen A. (Maneely) Sotera, 61, of Shirley, formerly of Groton and Lunenburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at her residence.
Sotera was born in Rome, NY, May 25, 1951, the daughter of Gerald and C. Arlene (Barton) Maneely and lived for many years in Groton before moving to Lunenburg and then Shirley. She was a 1969 graduate of Chelmsford High School.
For the past 15 years, Sotera has worked as a legal secretary in the Law Office of June Adams Johnson in Groton. Previously, she had worked for the towns of Harvard and Groton and for the Groton Police Department.
She leaves two daughters, Christine E. Sotera of Westerly, R.I., and Melanie A. Sotera of Nashua, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Maneely of Andover, N.H.; two nephews, Brian Maneely and Josh Ranson; two nieces, Shannon Maneely-Ranson and Erin Maneely; and cousin Karen Hawkins. She was the sister of the late Robert Maneely of Andover, N.H.
Ellen’s sense of humor, her compassion for those around her, and her ceaseless generosity will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her well.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 22, at Anderson Funeral Home.
