Museum of Fine Arts
Seniors will visit the MFA in Boston Wednesday, Nov. 4. The cost is $25 plus the cost of lunch; payment is due Oct. 21. On special exhibition is “Class Distinctions—Dutch Painting in the Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer.” The COA van will leave Harvard at 8:45 a.m. and return around 3:30 p.m. For reservations and information call 978-456-4120.
Medicare presentation
For those seniors with a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO or PPO), open enrollment is Thursday, Oct. 15, through Monday, Dec. 7. This is the time to review your current plan and the chance to change plans in 2016. All those enrolled in Medicare plans should have received notification by mail of current plan changes. To review those changes and to confidentially discuss options, a trained SHINE counselor will be present at Hildreth House on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. SHINE is a state agency that helps elders and individuals with disabilities to understand their health insurance options. Costume party
The Harvard Woman’s Club will host a Halloween costume party Thursday, Oct. 29, at noon at Hildreth House. Wear your favorite costume and enjoy a ghoulish lunch for $2. Sign up by Oct. 26 by calling 978-456-4120.
Fuel assistance offered
The Council of Aging is available to counsel seniors and others with concerns about paying for heat this season. Appointments can be scheduled at Hildreth House. Fuel assistance through Massachusetts’ LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) starts Sunday, Nov. 1, and is open to residents who meet the following gross annual income limits: for a household of one, $33,126; for a household of two, $43,319; for a household of three, $53,511. The town of Harvard also offers a HEAT (Harvard Energy Assistance Team) program beginning Jan. 1. To make an appointment, call the COA at 978-456-4120.
