The contract with Classic Construction and Development Corporation of Littleton, the low bidder on the Hildreth House renovation project, was unanimously approved by the selectmen at their June 21 meeting. Town Administrator Tim Bragan told the board that LLB Architects had concluded its due diligence on Classic Construction and “everything was fine.” He added that project manager Steve Kirby of Vertex has worked with Classic before and said that the company is reputable.
Town Hall and Hildreth House Construction Committee (THHHCC) Chairman Rick Maiore told the board that a pre-construction meeting will be held June 28 with the general contractor, LLB Architects, Vertex, and construction committee members. At that meeting, the group will set the ground rules for the project and discuss security. When the meeting concludes, the contractor will take control of the site. Maiore added that the construction committee will manage the project the same way that it managed the Town Hall project, and that all seven committee members are staying on to see it through to completion, including the three-person “red team,” at least one of whom attends weekly construction meetings.
