Police made 17 traffic stops during the week, resulting in seven citations, nine verbal warnings, and three arrests. Police also helped two motorists with disabled vehicles and responded to one request for an outdoor cooking fire. The ambulance crew responded to four medical emergencies and took four people to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
At 7:46 p.m. a caller reported suspicions about a woman seen crouching behind a white sedan on Scott Road. The woman and the car were gone when police arrived to investigate. Someone stopped at the station at 9:04 p.m. to report damage to a vehicle.
Wednesday Aug. 9
A patrol officer stopped on Candleberry Lane at 10:57 a.m. to ask landscapers to move their vehicles off the roadway. A Bolton Road resident called at 3:36 p.m. to report goats loose in the neighborhood. The animal control officer was notified. An officer on patrol stopped at McCurdy Track at 10:58 p.m. to investigate two cars parked there and later discovered a group of youths playing soccer. The officer told them they weren’t supposed to be there after dark and asked them to leave.
Thursday, Aug. 10
At 9:35 a.m. a caller reported a biomass truck blocking part of the roadway on Still River Road near Madigan Lane. The truck was gone by the time police arrived. A patrol officer stopped on Ayer Road at 1:29 p.m. to ask the driver of a delivery truck to move it because it was blocking part of the roadway. Someone called from the Immaculate Heart of Mary School at 5:37 p.m. with concerns about a man in his 20s who had been loitering in the area for two days. Police did not find the man. An officer on patrol stopped at McCurdy Track at 10:23 p.m. to check on an unoccupied car parked there. The officer found no one in the area.
Friday, Aug. 11
A post office employee called at 6:17 p.m. to complain that cars were cutting through the parking lot and were speeding. The caller was referred to the U.S. Postal Service police because the lot is a private way. Someone stopped at the station at 2:57 p.m. to speak with an officer about a rental contract dispute. The person was told that it was a civil matter, not an issue for the police. A Glenview Drive resident called at 11:24 p.m. to report hearing gunshots in the area. The noise had stopped by the time police arrived.
Saturday, Aug. 12
An Ann Lees Road resident called at 9:17 a.m. to report that his mailbox had been destroyed during the night. Someone stopped at the station at 11:53 a.m. to report losing a wallet. At 8:26 p.m. a caller reported a tree in the roadway on Oak Hill Road. Officers went to the location and moved the tree aside. Someone called at 9:42 p.m. to report that a car was parked in the lot at the conservation land on South Shaker Road. Police located the vehicle but found no one in the area. A Bolton Road resident called at 11:10 p.m. to report suspicions about a dark-colored sedan that had been parked in front of the house. The caller said the car had pulled away quickly when his wife looked out a window to check on it.
Sunday, Aug. 13
A motorist called at 9:37 a.m. to report having seen two motorcycles being driven erratically on Still River Road. An officer located and stopped the motorcycles and spoke with the operators. They claimed that the person in the car was the one driving erratically, which had prompted them to pull out and pass the car. The officer gave the pair a verbal warning for passing in a no-passing zone. At 11:20 a.m. a caller reported a tree down on Littleton Road near Whitney Road. The Department of Public Works was notified to remove it.
Monday, Aug. 14
At 12:05 a.m. a Bolton Road resident called to report seeing people at a house under construction near Abbot Lane. Police found a car parked at the site and discovered two people inside the building, who then ran off into the woods. Inside, officers found a bag containing about 4 ounces of marijuana. Bolton police and a K-9 unit were called to assist in searching for the pair. During the search, police found a juvenile hiding in the woods but did not locate the other person. An officer went to the home of the car’s registered owner and found the second person, whom they took into custody. Police ultimately arrested both individuals, a 17-year-old juvenile and 18-year-old Carson Rene of Harvard, on charges of breaking and entering a building at night, trespassing, and possessing more than 2 ounces of marijuana. A 911 caller reported hearing fireworks near the ballfield on Ann Lees Road at 12:55 a.m. No evidence of fireworks was found. A Woodside Road resident called at 10:05 a.m. to report being bitten by a dog while walking his dog on Bowers Road. The animal control officer was notified. A motorist heading from Bolton to Harvard on Still River Road called at 1:22 p.m. to report a car being driven erratically toward Harvard. Officers caught up with the car and stopped it; they subsequently arrested 41-year-old Kathy Salovardos of Ayer on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, second offense; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; and failure to stay within marked lanes. At 4:25 p.m. a woman called to report being bitten by a dog while making a delivery on Stow Road. The animal control officer was notified. Boxborough police called at 10:14 p.m. seeking assistance at a motor vehicle stop.
