During the week police made only one traffic stop and gave that driver a citation. They also helped one person get back into a locked car and responded to one request for an outdoor cooking fire. The ambulance crew responded to seven medical emergencies and took six people to the hospital, four with Advanced Life Support on board. One person refused treatment or transport to the hospital.
Tuesday, Sept. 5
Someone called at 9:03 a.m. to report suspicions about two men seen at the Willard Farm farmstand on Still River Road. The caller said the men wouldn’t make eye contact, which seemed odd. An officer went to Willard Farm and spoke with the men, who turned out to be farm employees. At 2:37 p.m. a caller reported concerns about an unoccupied car parked at the intersection of Stow and Westcott roads. Police checked out the car and found no one in the area, so simply documented its presence there. Someone called at 6:40 p.m. to report that kids were jumping around in the fire pond on Stow Road. The caller expressed concern that there might be hazing going on. An officer went to the pond to investigate, but the youths were gone.
Wednesday, Sept. 6
At 2:14 p.m. an Ayer Road resident called to speak with an officer about scam phone calls her grandmother had been receiving. Someone called at 4:36 p.m. to speak to an officer about an accident that had taken place the previous day.
Thursday, Sept. 7
A resident on Mass. Ave. called at 8:19 p.m. to speak to an officer about an issue with a contractor.
Friday, Sept. 8
At 7:15 p.m. someone called to report seeing a person slumped over the steering wheel of a car parked on Bolton Road. Police went to the location and subsequently arrested the driver, 31-year-old Shawn Gould of Clinton, on charges of operating under the influence of drugs and possession of a Class B substance.
Saturday, Sept. 9
Someone called at 11 a.m. seeking assistance in the resolution of an ongoing motor vehicle complaint. The caller said that during the hours of the Farmers Market, cars were parked in an area that blocked the line of sight between Pond Road and Mass. Ave., and told the officer that the complaint had been raised with someone at the Farmers Market several times. An officer spoke with one of the Farmers Market organizers and asked that they put safety cones in the spot to prevent cars from parking there during market hours. At 1:32 p.m. someone called to report a tree limb down on Still River Road near Under Pin Hill Road. An officer found the limb and moved it aside to clear the roadway. A caller reported at 10:19 p.m. that an unoccupied car had been parked at Dunkin’ Donuts all day. An officer went to that parking lot, found the car, but not the driver, and logged the incident.

Monday, Sept. 11
A Woodside Road resident called at 1:53 p.m. to report that a man dressed in black had come to the home trying to sell solar panels, and when the resident declined and asked the man to leave, he allegedly made threats. After the caller provided police with the identifying information of the salesman’s car, an officer located it and arrested the driver, 24-year-old Shawn Mayer of Palmyra, California, for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to follow a municipal bylaw regarding soliciting in Harvard. Someone called at 10:20 p.m. to report suspicions about three tractor-trailer trucks parked in the lot at Westward Orchards. Police say the trucks had permission to be there.
