A new chair yoga class with Louise Dorian starts Tuesday, April 7, 10:30 a.m., and will continue the first and third Tuesday each month. $5 per class, free during April. Remember to leave the self-judgment at home.
Lunch at The Smoke Shop BBQ. On Thursday, April 9, at 11:30 a.m., enjoy this easygoing Chelmsford restaurant run by award-winning pitmaster Andy Husbands, serving real-deal barbecue.
Honoring a loved one. On Friday, April 10, 11 a.m. to noon, join for a thoughtful time to memorialize a loved one with words, stories, and poetry. No need to actually present or speak, just write a word or a thought on a piece of paper and add it to a vase we will provide.
Movies for grown-ups. Starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, this Academy Award-nominated film tells the story of love and loss that was inspired by the creation of Shakespeare’s masterpiece, “Hamlet.” At the Harvard Public Library, 4 Pond Road, Monday, April 13, 1 p.m.
The importance of community-building. On Wednesday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m., pastor and psychotherapist Sean Witty will explore what the science of connection tells us about growing up and growing older, and how we can build and sustain relationships that keep us healthy, sharp, and fully alive.
Enjoy the music of Dave McLellan, classical guitarist and Harvard resident, Tuesday, April 21, at 1 p.m. He will feature works by living women composers and music from Cuba, the U.S., and Spain.
Book club will next meet Wednesday, April 22, at 1 p.m.
The 45th annual Senior Conference is Thursday, April 23, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough. Free workshops, entertainment, lunch, and more. Van transportation will be available if five or more sign up.
‘Laughter is the Best Medicine.’ Celebrate National Humor Month Thursday, April 30, 1 p.m., with humorous stories, classic mime skits, and comic improvisations by performance artist and laughter yoga master trainer Robert Rivest.
Annual Town Meeting will be held Saturday, May 2, 10 a.m., at the Bromfield School. The COA van will be available for shuttle service. Call by Thursday, April 30, 2 p.m., to schedule.
Maine overnight trip. Anyone interested in a two-night trip to Maine in June, contact Pam at the COA. Details will follow. A minimum of 5 people are needed.
Weekly grocery shopping. The van to Market Basket in Littleton departs Fridays, 10 a.m.
Congregate meals are served Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon at the senior center. Meals on wheels can also be arranged.
Does your doctor use telehealth? The senior center is now a telehealth hub, and if you don’t have a computer, you can use one of ours to have an online appointment with your doctor. Call the COA for details.
Fuel assistance is available in a state program open to both homeowners and renters; income limits apply. April is the last month to apply. Call the COA for assistance.
Help with computers. Adam is available Tuesday and Friday mornings for one-on-one computer training or anything related to computers or technology. Call the COA (not Adam) for an appointment.
COA van guidelines. There is no fee for the use of the van. To schedule a ride, call the COA; 48 hours’ notice is requested. Wheelchair users must be accompanied by a companion.
