Fruitlands announces artist-in-residence
Fruitlands Museum is pleased to announce that Carolyn Wirth will be the 2016 Artist-in-Residence. From April to November, Wirth will hold conversations with the community, exhibit her work at the museum’s Wayside Visitor Center, and create a site-specific outdoor sculpture inspired by the Fruitlands landscape and history. Her exhibition, “Seeing Past Faces,” featuring work related to American women writers, will be on view at the Art Museum, July 2 through Aug. 21.
End-of-season sale at Bargains in the Belfry
End-of-season sales are taking place at Bargains in the Belfry, upstairs at the Harvard Unitarian church. All items are currently discounted by 30 percent. The discount will be 50 percent March 20 through March 29. Items include men’s and women’s sweaters, jerseys, jackets, and slacks, plus a tuxedo or two and some women’s evening wear. The shop is open Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and after the church service Sunday, March 20.
NRWA online auction
The Nashua River Watershed Association’s sping online auction begins Wednesday, March 23, at www.BiddingforGood.com/NashuaRiverWatershed and ends on April 1. Offerings include Red Sox tickets, an overnight at Wentworth by the Sea, passes to the Great Wolf Lodge Water Park, jewelry, car detailing, golf lessons, youth summer camp, equestrian supplies, national and state park passes, kitchen or garden design services, and restaurant gift certificates. These items will be available only online; You’ll be supporting the NRWA’s natural resource protection and environmental education programs in 32 communities. Harvard Woman’s Club scholarship applications
Applications for this year’s Harvard Woman’s Club scholarship awards are due April 28. Upcoming Bromfield School graduates and Harvard residents graduating from other public schools are eligible. The application form is available at http://bit.ly/1QACIe2 or by emailing HWC@terriau.org.
Ginny Thurston scholarship available to Bromfield seniors
The Board of Selectmen will offer financial assistance to Bromfield seniors through the Ginny Thurston Scholarship Fund. Interested students should write to the selectmen’s office at 13 Ayer Road by Friday, May 6, listing their community and extracurricular activities along with what college or university they will attend. More information is available at the selectmen’s office and the Bromfield guidance office.
Sarah Watson scholarship available to college students
Financial assistance is available to second- and third-year college students from trust funds left to the town by Sarah Watson. Applications are available at the selectmen’s office or at the town website on the Board of Selectmen/Town Administrator page. Applications must be submitted by July 1. The trustee of the Sarah Watson Trust will make final decisions on scholarship awards by early summer.
