A new work by Harvard sculptor Geoffrey Koetsch will be featured in the exhibit MINDmatters, opening Friday, May 2, at the Laconia Gallery in Boston.
Koetsch’s interest in the mystery of consciousness began with a trip to Japan in the 1990s, where he had direct contact with the artistic culture of Zen Buddhism, and was further stimulated by his reading of recent developments in neuroscience. His new work, Node, is an attempt to synthesize two approaches to the mind. The title “Node” refers to each individual consciousness as a center point in the continuum of time and space.
