Market date and time
Saturday, Aug. 30, 9 a.m. to noon

Featured band: The popular acoustic duo The Wild Edibles returns this week with Jamie Merkle of Hudson on guitar, banjo, fiddle, and vocals, and Boxborough native Pat Keaney on guitar, dobro, and vocals. They cover a wide range of influences, including bluegrass, rock, jazz, and blues, with some Mexican corridos and other offbeat numbers thrown in to keep people on their toes—and on their dancing feet!

What’s selling: This week there will be fresh local eggs available at Springdell Farm’s booth. For fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheeses from Vermont, check out the booth of Fior D’Italia.

Eggplant is in season! Did you know? Eggplant is a fruit native to the Southeast Asian region of India and Pakistan, and was first domesticated there more than 4,000 years ago. Slow to earn acceptance in America, it was first grown only as an ornamental plant and was not commonly eaten as a food until the late 1800s or early 1900s. Until only a few centuries ago, the eggplant was believed by superstitious Europeans to induce insanity and was unaffectionately known as the “Mad Apple.”
