More often found behind the camera lens, local photographer Ellen Harasimowicz found herself in front of it last week. Two CNN camerawomen taped Harasimowicz’s talk held at St. Theresa’s about a trip she took to Uganda last June to photograph the nongovernmental organization WorldVision’s work in helping orphaned and often brutalized victims of the ongoing civil war in that country. Her book Northern Uganda 2008 is available at www.blurb.com.

Joining Harasimowicz was Grace Akallo, author of Girl Soldier: A Story of Hope for Northern Uganda’s Children, in which she tells about being kidnapped by the Lord’s Resistance Army at age 15 and forced to march with the rebel army, fight, and raid villages for food and water.
