In last week’s Press article “School Committee extends Jefferson’s contract,” Leo Blair was quoted as saying, “We’re abandoning what makes Harvard Harvard,” in reference to the personal attack on Virginia Justicz. I have to agree. This unsubstantiated attack on Virginia’s credibility leads to an unproductive dialogue to get anything done. Harvard is known as a town with superior schools. Virginia works objectively toward this agenda. She does so with integrity and is thorough and unyielding in her attempts to listen and understand all sides, as you can see in her “My Two Cents” article, also in last week’s Press. She’s playing a vital role and truly cares about the schools, not only for her own children’s sake, but for the sake of the community. To say that she’s in it for her own interest or to ask her to recuse herself is inexcusable. Let’s stick to the subject at hand and respect the individuals who devote so much time and effort on behalf of this town.
