I want to thank the members of the Harvard/Ayer Rotary Club for their generous support and contribution, which enabled me to send more than 200 pairs of running shoes (315 pounds) to Eldoret, Kenya. The Shoe4Africa program, which provides used running shoes to people in need, is struggling to keep its mission alive with the rising cost of shipping. With the help of organizations like the Rotary, it can continue to do so.
I would like to give a special thank you to Peter Warren, who was behind me 100 percent from the first time I phoned him to tell him about my project. Also, thank you to President Dave Swain (and son), and Treasurer John Gervais who met me at the post office bright and early Saturday morning to help unload the boxes. Thank you also to generous students and residents who donated shoes. This was a true community effort.
