It is with mixed feelings that I’m writing. I attended Bromfield’s graduation ceremony on June 10 and was extremely disappointed and perplexed that there was no mention of the loss of retiring English department chair, Karen Bucholc, who was sitting front and center with her husband. I would have expected at least the principal, James O’Shea, to thank her for her years of service and wish her good luck. This did not happen. It was a topic of conversation at subsequent parties.
Then I read in the June 17 issue of the Press, in an article by Julie Moberly, that “O’Shea closed the evening by thanking the Bromfield faculty for the wonderful year, and wishing the best of luck to retiring English teacher Karen Bucholc.”
I wonder what else in the paper is a rendition of what should have been, not what actually was.
I wonder if this paper is so favorably disposed toward the Harvard Public Schools that it is willing to discard credibility.
I wonder.
