They did it just like the Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy predicted. The beloved Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants. A couple of juggled passes and a last-minute Hail Mary to the end zone did not, as usual, send our team home victorious. What’s left to believe in except there’s always next year?
All that’s left is the hope that:
- Greece gets bailed out somehow.
- Europe gets its act together.
- Iran doesn’t become a new Middle East war.
- The U.S. economy is really on the mend.
- Our $15 trillion deficit doesn’t turn us into slaves.
- Our political parties learn to compromise.
And finally, that we can succeed in relearning how to compromise, arrive at solutions rather than restating problems, as well as gaining some clear understanding as to who our next president should be.
In any event, happy New Year, and have a pleasant Valentine’s Day.
