Sunday, Feb. 26 at noon, a tribute was given to Allen Feltus, a longtime Harvard resident and one of the original founders of the Harvard Snowmobile Club. For nearly 40 years, Feltus volunteered his time, energy, and equipment to create many of the trails that exist around town today. The club officially dedicated the trail at the rear of the Feltus property that leads to Deans Hill. The club now calls this trail “Uncle Allen’s Trail.” A plaque will mark the trail, and a small version of the plaque was given to Judy Feltus, Allen’s wife.
Allen Feltus died in 2006, but his hard work and dedication can be seen all over town, the snowmobile club says. Snowmobilers, skiers, walkers, joggers, equestrians, bird watchers, and others in town who enjoy the outdoors use these trails today.
Three generations of the Feltus family, along with about 40 club members, trail users, and residents, gathered on the Feltus property last Sunday for the dedication and a cookout.
