Board of Selectmen, 3/26/13

Matson and Ward join HEAC and ConsCom

The selectmen voted unanimously to appoint Steve Matson of Withington Lane to the Energy Advisory Committee. Matson, a chemical engineer with environmental expertise, said of his appointment, “I have been waiting for an opportunity like this. What’s not to love about HEAC!” He called it a “profit center for the community.”

In another unanimous vote, Joanne Ward, who moved to town very recently, was appointed to the Conservation Commission. “In the past two months, she’s been to more meetings than I have,” said Commission Chairman Paul Willard in recommending her. In speaking of her interest in the board, Ward said how important it is to maintain the integrity of local lands and wetlands, and she paraphrased a company motto saying, “We must consider the impact of our decisions on the seventh generation.”

The board accepted the resignation of former resident Doug Coots from the Historical Commission and the Municipal Building Committee.
