Pub Night

Dance Party
The Center on the Common will host a 90s-style dance party, “Too Legit to Quit,” Friday March 21, from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. BYOB.
Festival of Cultures
The Harvard PTO will host a festival highlighting the experiences of families who have lived in other countries Friday, March 21, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hildreth Elementary School. Participants can get their passports stamped at each of the 20 countries represented at the festival, do crafts, bid on comestibles, and watch performances by students. Food will not be served.
Life of Jack Kerouac
The Warner Free Lecture Series will present “The Life and Intrigues of Jack Kerouac” Friday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the library’s Volunteers Hall. Jim Sampas, well-known filmmaker and producer, will discuss the music and writing of Kerouac, who was one of the best-known writers of the Beat Generation in the 1950s. The event is free and open to the public.
WinterFest Weekend
Fruitlands Museum will host a WinterFest Weekend Saturday, March 22, and Sunday, March 23, at noon. Bring sleds, snowshoes, and cross-country skis. On exhibit: “Relics from the Pergolas” and a student art exhibit.
Brain Fitness Workshop
The Council on Aging and Friends of the Council on Aging continue the Life Transitions series with a brain fitness workshop Saturday, March 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the Harvard Public Library. The program will begin with an introduction on the importance of keeping one’s brain active, healthy, and efficient as one ages, and participants will also have the opportunity to experience 12 activities targeted to brain fitness.
Art and Sculpture Exhibit
The unique work of adults with autism, made under the direction of sculptor Nora Valdez, will be shown Sunday, March 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the Harvard Public Library. Harvard Schools Trust Dinner-Theater Gala
The Harvard Schools Trust will host its 25th annual dinner-theater gala Saturday, March 29, starting at 6 p.m. at the Bromfield School’s Cronin Auditorium. Participants will begin the evening with a production of the Sartre play “No Exit,” performed by the Bromfield Drama Society and directed by George Kendall. The show will also feature a vocal solo, cello solo, and duet selections with piano accompaniment from “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff, directed by Thomas Reynolds and Rebecca Ufema. The gourmet French dinner begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Unitarian Church’s Fellowship Building on Elm Street. Tickets are $60 each and are available at www.harvardschoolstrust.org. Coffeehouse Fundraiser
A coffeehouse featuring local musicians will be held Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the Harvard Public Library. The goal is to raise $200 for the charity “Room to Read,” a project of local Honor Society students. Donations in any amount will be welcome.

The Gallery at Indian Hill is currently displaying “Not Ballet,” an exhibit of photographs by Alice Gebura. The exhibit will remain on display through the month of April at Indian Hill Music School, 36 King Street, Littleton. ‘Voices of Spring’
Mezzo-soprano Olga Bykhovsky of Harvard will perform in “Voices of Spring,” a program of opera arias and duets Saturday, March 22, at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Modern Renaissance, 115 College Ave., Somerville. Violin Duo Concert

Self-Motivation in Children
The Applewild School will present a free talk by Wendy Grolnick, author and psychology professor at Clark University, Wednesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at the school, 120 Prospect St., Fitchburg. Grolnick’s talk is entitled, “Facilitating Children’s Motivation in a Pressured World: Challenges for Parents and Teachers.” Grolnick is among the seminal thinkers about how to develop self-motivation in children without creating pressure. Scholarship Dinner Gala
The Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School Foundation will sponsor a superintendent’s scholarship dinner Wednesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. at the school, 1050 Westminster St., Fitchburg. Guests will enjoy the music of the 50s and 60s and a multi-course, gourmet dinner prepared and served by students and teachers in the Culinary Arts program.
