J.U.M.P. Inc., an educational nonprofit that introduces underserved and otherwise challenged teens to the mountain trails of New England, has announced the creation of a scholarship in its name.
The gift of an anonymous supporter, the J.U.M.P. Summit Scholarship underwrites the full cost of an education at a Massachusetts state college or university. The first J.U.M.P. Summit Scholar is Clever Chaves, of Fitchburg. At the donor’s behest, the scholarship is awarded with strict academic performance stipulations. J.U.M.P. hopes to expand the gift’s benefits to other deserving participants in the future, through corporate and individual donations.
J.U.M.P. (Just Understand My Potential) is a Harvard-based nonprofit that was founded by Bill Spacciapoli of Ayer Road.
