Former resident, flight attendant

Doris T. (Donahue) O’Brien of New London, N.H., and formerly of Brighton and Harvard passed away peacefully on Nov. 11, 2014, at Summercrest in Newport, N.H. She was born in Brighton, Mass., the daughter of Daniel W. and Theresa (Driscoll) Donahue. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Newton and attended the University of Houston. Doris was a flight attendant with Northeast Airlines from 1953 to 1959 and was office manager of the Rischberger Architectural Firm in State College, Penn., from 1966 to 1970. She lived in Harvard for 23 years before moving to New London in 1993.

Doris was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in New London. She loved her home and family and enjoyed nature, particularly the birds and the occasional moose, fox, deer, and wild turkeys. She was predeceased by her siblings, Daniel and Walter Donahue and Geraldine Hindle. Members of her surviving family include her husband of 55 years, Philip J. O’Brien; a daughter, Amy K. O’Brien of Newton; two brothers, Paul J. Donahue of Weston and Leo F. Donahue of Gold River, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 724 Main St., New London. The Rev. Robert Biron presided. Burial was in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris’ name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
