Bromfield eighth-grader Yohhan Kumarasinghe has for the fifth consecutive year won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee, with three wins at Bromfield and two as a student in the town of Franklin. The Dec. 18 school-level bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 27th annual National Geographic Bee.
Earlier in December, Kumarasinghe and second-place finisher Ben Lichtman qualified for the school-level bee during preliminary classroom competitions. Other participants included sixth-graders Ben Brown, Maible Daly, Connor Gothorpe, Bella Kehoe, and Lucy Richards; seventh-graders Ted Justicz, Tom Khuu, Sean McNamara, Nathan Rogers, and Liza Toll; and eighth-graders Raymond Li, Andrew Loveluck, and Ian Miller.
Kumarasinghe and other school winners from around the state will take a written test; top scorers from Massachusetts will be eligible to compete in the March 27 state bee.
