Jack Magan, Daniel Lichtman, Ben Lichtman, John Hawes, and Alex Magan of Harvard were surprised to dig up most of the skeleton of a loggerhead sea turtle at Long Point Reservation beach on Martha’s Vineyard. The boys used an iPhone to match the unique breast bones to a photo of this turtle after eliminating the possibility that the bones were those of a seal or osprey. They were able to use the online photo to reassemble the skeleton. Rangers at Long Point said they have seen bones dug up before but never turtle bones.
