As Worth Robbins recounted in “The economics of local news,” in our Nov. 6 issue, the Press, like all newspapers, continues to struggle financially as it starts its 10th year of operation. The following week, an anonymous donor offered to make a $5,000 matching donation if we could raise $5,000 from our readership. To date we have collected $3,235, $1,765 shy of our fundraising goal. Reaching our goal would ensure we go into 2016 with almost no operating deficit while we continue to cut expenses and increase advertising revenue. It’s been an honor to cover the local news.
