As noted in this week’s paper, Harvard voters have some unfinished business to complete before giving in to the pleasures of summer. At Special Town Meeting next Tuesday, June 14, attendees will be asked to approve the additional $188,233 needed to start work on improvements to the safety and accessibility of Hildreth House. The extra money is needed because the winning bid puts the project over its original budget of $1.36 million. The funding mechanism that the Finance Committee is expected to recommend requires a two-thirds vote of those present.
The Hildreth House project has been in the works for years, and its design has undergone numerous modifications in an effort to keep costs as low as possible. We urge Harvard voters to attend the meeting and vote to give the project the money it needs to get underway.
