Superstar Productions will present the musical “Willy Wonka Jr.” Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 4, at 2 p.m. in the Hildreth Elementary School cafeteria. Tickets are $8 at the door.
The show is adapted from Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and his 1971 screenplay, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.” The music includes infectious, danceable songs including “The Candy Man, “Pure Imagination,” and “Oompa Loompa.”
The plot involves candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his candy bars. Whoever comes up with the tickets will win a tour of the Wonka factory and a lifetime supply of candy. Follow Charlie, Augustus, Violet, Veruca, Mike Teavee, and their parents on a delicious adventure.
