I found myself flat-out angry upon reading your most recent article on the issue of Hildreth Elementary’s future. Ken Swanton’s remark that “more important things” existed than the mold and antiquated plumbing and electrical at Hildreth is myopic at best and negligent at worst. This issue is serious, will require serious money, and must be addressed. The mold has been “sealed” into walls that also house utilities that, per Superintendent Dwight’s letter in the June 2 issue, have reached “the end of their expected lives,” and all of this sits beneath a roof that “leaks extensively.” What could possibly go wrong? Respectfully, Mr. Swanton, addressing this issue is long overdue; further delay is willful neglect.
