Thanking those who supported this year’s PTO Fun Fair

June 22, 2017

The annual Harvard PTO Fun Fair thwarted the rain to cap off another school year and kick off summer with games, community, and great food. The event adds to the funds we raise yearly for curriculum enrichment and the purchase of materials to enhance the educational resources for the students of the Harvard Public Schools.

The Fun Fair team brought together months of logistical planning: Thank you to committee members Deana Boucher, Lee Chipman, Heather Daly, Robin Foley, Matt Mostoller, Katie Petrossi, Jennifer Slavin, and Laura Thomas.

Although we had to move inside, we want to thank the groups who were ready to help if we had set up outside: Sue Reedich and the Harvard Lions, the Harvard DPW for field setup and weather advice, Bill Barton, Deb Mayo, the Harvard Soccer Club, and Police Chief Ed Denmark for agreeing to activities that were canceled due to rain.

We appreciate the generosity of the Harvard Fire Department for lending equipment, Pam Brown for organizing the Worcester Bravehearts mascot visit, Harvard Parks and Recreation, Peter Murphy, NHS students, Mary Arata, Erin Baker and Amanda Gutzler, and school administration at both schools for event assistance. Matt Adams, Dan Daly, Peter Foley, Sandy Gomez, Nikhil Kommineni, Mike Morton, John Ruark, Elliot and Reese Stevenson, and Epiphany Vera for getting the games and materials organized at the event. Community members and students who donated their time, tables, supplies, and help for setup, breakdown, and event staffing. Thank you to Kimball Farm, Dr. Joy-Ann Deane of Dental Center of Harvard, and many kind Harvard families for their raffle donations.

I’d like to also thank my family, Marc and Sophie Thompson, for listening to me think through planning and the weather conundrum. Once again, you all enabled us to bring this event together.
