Elizabeth Ann Smetana and John Russell Steensma were married last August at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, followed by an outdoor reception at the Inn by the Sea. Monsignor Stefanko, who attended seminary with former St. Theresa pastor Father Denis, celebrated the wedding Mass.
Elizabeth is the youngest daughter of Bob and Margie Smetana, formerly of Harvard. John is the son of Russell and Barbara Steensma of Center Tuftonboro, New Hampshire.
Abigail Smetana, Elizabeth’s sister, served as matron of honor. Megan Smetana, Elizabeth’s sister-in-law, and Bromfield graduates Lindsey Basnett, Kim West, and Amanda Dexter were bridesmaids.
Graydon Steensma, John’s brother, served as best man. John’s brother-in-law Matt Brunelle, Brewster Academy graduates Ryan Cooke and Avery Galloway, and college friend Ryan Gleason were groomsmen.
John, a Brewster Academy graduate, currently works for UPS in New Hampshire. Elizabeth, a Bromfield School and Salem College graduate, currently works for Brewster Academy in the development office and as Brewster’s varsity field hockey coach.
John and Elizabeth live in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire
