At 12:12 a.m. the fire officer on duty responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at a house on Littleton County Road. The alarm was malfunctioning because of a power failure, so no service was needed. At 9:55 a.m. a fire officer did the monthly inspection of the new elementary school construction, along with a representative of the construction company. At 5:02 p.m. four firefighters and an engine were dispatched to a three-alarm fire at an apartment building on Neck Road in Lancaster. The Harvard firefighters stood by as a rapid intervention crew in case someone needed a rescue.
Wednesday, March 3
At 8:24 a.m. four firefighters and an engine accompanied police to a disabled vehicle on Sherry Road. Because the car’s fuel tank was resting on rocks, the firefighters stood by until the tow truck removed the car safely. At 3:43 p.m. there was a problem with the municipal radio fire alarm system at the Still River Fire Station, which the fire officer on duty resolved. At 7:03 p.m. both the Fire Department and the Ambulance Service responded to a three-car crash on Route 2 westbound. Firefighters from Engines 2 and 4 monitored scene safety. The Harvard ambulance took one injured person to the hospital; the Ayer ambulance crew took another; and a third person refused transport.
Friday, March 5
At 7:33 a.m. Engines 2 and 4 responded to the crash at Dunkin’ on Ayer Road and assisted with cleaning up debris. At 7:17 p.m. a fire alarm went off at the General Store, triggered by some burned food.
Tuesday, March 9, was the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Harvard Fire Department.
