My daughter spent many of her summers working at the town beach, the early years on a volunteer (no pay) basis. When it was decided the town would no longer pay for the certifications required for this summer, she chose to work elsewhere. The town beach and the town’s residents lost someone with significant institutional knowledge on how things work at the beach. Perhaps this is why there’s no lifeguard service until after July 5?
