In the past week, police made eight motor vehicle stops, six resulting in verbal warnings and two in written warnings. They also made one mental health evaluation and responded to two false burglar alarms.
The Ambulance Service responded to 10 calls and transported five patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. There were five motor vehicle accidents but no lift assists.
Tuesday, Aug. 15
At 8:25 a.m. a delivery van crashed into a garage on West Bare Hill Road; the driver was extricated and refused ambulance transport. At 10:38 p.m. state police informed Harvard officers that an erratic driver had turned off Route 2 onto Ayer Road; the driver was headed toward Ayer, and police there were notified.
Wednesday, Aug. 16
At 3:42 p.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on Route 2; state police had jurisdiction.
Thursday, Aug. 17
At 9:38 a.m. another crash was reported on Route 2, this time in the eastbound lane; again, state police took charge. At 5:43 p.m. a caller asked police to check on the well-being of a person the caller had seen leaning on a shopping cart along Ayer Road; the person was gone when police checked the area. At 9:24 p.m. someone called police with concerns about a man sitting beside Ayer Road near the intersection with Old Mill Road; again police were unable to make contact with the man. At 10:05 p.m. Boxborough police asked Harvard officers for help with a man on Old Harvard Road who believed he heard people outside his home.
Friday, Aug. 18
At 10:19 a.m. an officer saw a large, live turtle on Mass. Ave. near Slough Road and alerted the animal control officer. At 10:44 p.m. Harvard officers assisted state police in serving an arrest warrant for a person on Patton Road in Devens. At 4:27 p.m. a resident came to the police station to report a case of fraud. At 7:54 p.m. a caller spoke with an officer about someone violating a harassment prevention order against the caller’s daughter. At 10:34 p.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident called to report his sister had threatened to kill him. Harvard police reported the threat to the county sheriff in the state where she lives, and the sheriff sent officers to the sister’s home. She acknowledged the threat, saying she had contacted a person to drive to Harvard and carry out her threat, but she had then called the plan off. Harvard police filed charges against her for criminal harassment and threatening to commit murder. The next steps, police say, are up to the Worcester County district attorney.
Saturday, Aug. 19
At 12:50 a.m. Boxborough police asked for backup from Harvard on a call to Old Harvard Road. At 1:51 p.m. someone came to the station seeking help in obtaining an emergency restraining order.
Sunday, Aug. 20
At 8:46 a.m. a person who was under a restraining order asked for a police escort to obtain some property at an Old Littleton Road residence. At 9:16 a.m. someone at that residence called 911 to say a man was violating a restraining order by taking items from the garage there. Police say there was no violation of the order. At 4:10 p.m. a woman called 911 asking for a well-being check on her husband, who had called her from somewhere on Prospect Hill Road; based on his remarks, she feared he intended to harm himself. Police located the man, who was unharmed.
Monday, Aug. 21
At 12:32 p.m. someone on Shaker Road called to say there was a fox under their shed, but it was not aggressive; the animal control officer was alerted. At 5:18 p.m. a caller reported an erratic driver swerving from side to side on Still River Road and headed for Bolton; Bolton police were informed. At 7:01 p.m. there was a crash on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction.
