I have lived in Harvard for 57 years, raised two children here, taught Sunday School, and chaired fundraisers for school accreditation, playgrounds, and the Congregational Church. I also chaired the town’s first PTO. For over 40 years, I arrived on a fire truck with Santa to bring joy to Harvard’s children. I’ve been here long enough to be considered an “old-timer” by some. Over the years, I’ve done my best to be a good citizen and give back to this town. I say all this because this is my town—my home, my Harvard—a place I want to be proud of again.
It’s an understatement to say that the behavior of one of our Select Board members has greatly disappointed me. I am appalled that this person would presume to represent me on our town’s governing body. With elections approaching, I want to voice my strong support for Eve Wittenberg for the Select Board.
Eve’s decision to step up and run—especially in today’s political climate—is brave. I believe she will bring integrity and honesty to the Select Board. As a neighbor, I’ve spent many mornings talking with Eve—about gardening, world events, and more recently, the troubled state of our town.
Eve is astute, insightful, and realistic about the challenges Harvard faces. As chair of the Conservation Commission, she has valuable experience navigating the complexities of local governance. But above all, she has a strong ethical compass—one that centers on inclusion and respect.
I believe Eve can help restore the compassionate, decent, and fair town that we all know and love. Please join me in supporting her for the Select Board. She is the caliber of candidate we need.
