Harvard’s Master Plan is undergoing a periodic review, and the Planning Board is looking for resident input. How do we want Harvard to look and feel in 10 or 25 or 50 years?
The Master Plan answers that question by laying out a vision for Harvard’s long-term physical development and land use. The plan outlines guiding principles and goals that will lead to the town’s future vision of itself. Policy decisions and development applications in Harvard are reviewed against the Master Plan to ensure that our land use patterns and built environment are consistent with this future vision.
The town’s most recent Master Plan was adopted in 2016. It presents a series of town goals, as well as specific initiatives and recommendations that the town has worked toward over the last nine years. The Master Plan can be accessed at the Planning Board’s website.
The Planning Board will publish a re-examination report in 2026. In preparation, we will evaluate each plan element to ensure that its guiding principles continue to reflect Harvard’s future vision of itself.
We need resident opinions on this vision. The Planning Board is hosting an online Master Plan survey to review the town goals defined in 2016. Survey answers will help us determine if these goals remain applicable to the town’s future vision.
