It is with great enthusiasm that I write in support of my friend Adam Wool as he runs for office in Harvard. Having known him for over 20 years as a businessman, as my representative in Juneau, and as a friend, I can attest to his integrity, dedication, and genuine care he showed for the people of our community, Fairbanks, Alaska. I would expect nothing less of him in Harvard.
Adam is someone who listens first, then acts with fairness and thoughtfulness. In the legislature, in an often-divided House he was able to work with both sides of the aisle (actually, in Alaska there are three …we have strong representation from independents) to achieve outcomes that benefited all the citizens of Alaska. He was evenhanded and well respected by all other legislators.
Like many Alaskans, Adam came for a visit and stayed. He stayed long enough to start two successful businesses, to earn a degree in physics, long enough to provide “Hot Licks Homemade Ice Cream” with his brother Jeff and a music venue and a place for political forums. And in all ways he was an outstanding and savvy and honest businessman.
As a friend he was always there. As an ordinary citizen he married Kate, a fine-art photographer, and raised two outstanding young women, who are making their own marks in Harvard now.
As an Alaskan who misses Adam’s leadership, friendship, his Blue Loon, as one who values transparency, collaboration, and long-term planning, I believe Adam embodies these qualities.
I and many others miss Adam and Kate and the girls. But if we can’t have them, please take advantage of what they bring to Harvard and elect Adam to represent you on the Select Board. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
