New athletic field: A commitment to the health and well-being of the town

October 3, 2025

I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Harvard community for showing up, making your voices heard, and voting in favor of Article 4 for the purchase of land for athletic fields. Your participation reflects the best of civic engagement—neighbors coming together to invest in resources which will benefit us for generations.

This decision is more than a land purchase. It is a commitment to the health, development, and well-being of our town. The new field will provide children with a safe place to learn and practice skills, give families space to gather and play, and offer adults opportunities to stay active and connected. In short, the fields will strengthen both bodies and community bonds.

Thank you to everyone who supported the get-out- the-vote effort and to all who participated in Town Meeting. Your collective engagement shows the power of coming together—not only to back this project, but to affirm the importance of shared spaces that strengthen Harvard as a vibrant, healthy, and connected community.

The Harvard Home Field Project is a group of Harvard residents who believe in the value of new athletic fields to serve our town. We are raising private donations from residents who agree with us that it’s time to significantly improve the athletic experience for our young athletes by designing, constructing, and maintaining this new field. Please contact us at harvard.homefield@gmail.com to lend your financial support to this effort.
