The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden, 145 Bolton Road, provides a community of support, therapeutic services and education to facilitate healing for those experiencing cancer. All programs require pre-registration. Please call 978-456-3532.


SUPPORT GROUPS

All support groups are FREE and require pre-registration.

  • YOUNG WOMEN – 2nd and 4th Mondays, 9:30 – 11am
  • IN TREATMENT – 1st and 3rd Mondays, 1 – 2:30pm
  • POST TREATMENT – 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 11am – 12:30pm
  • LIVING WITH METASTATIC CANCER – 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 11am – 12:30pm
  • LIVING WITH METASTATIC CANCER – 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 3:30 – 5pm
  • OVARIAN GROUP – 3rd Thursdays, 12 – 1:30pm

At this Oneness Blessing event you will receive a transformative blessing proceeded by a meditation.


Drop-In Meditation: Mindful Mondays
Open to the community!
Mondays, 12:30–1:00pm

Sit in the beautiful Garden Room and try out different meditation practices ranging from Meditation for Anxiety and Depression to Radical Self-Acceptance.


Mat Pilates for Building Strength
Wednesdays, 3:45–4:45pm 
Meets: 11/23, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 12/28, 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8
Cost: $10
Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body. The blend of sterngth and flexibility improves posture and reduces stress.


Mind-Body Music and Sound
Wednesdays, 10:00–11:00am 
Meets: 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16 
Cost: $10
This weekly workshop is designed to help you relax, unwind and bring your attention to the music as a meditative tool.

 


Creating Your Personal Mandala – One-Day Workshop
Wednesday, Nov. 16, 1 to 3 p.m.
Cost: $10; limited to 9 participants
Mandalas are an ancient, meditative art form used by many cultures to reach the inner self and create balance in our contemporary and often hectic world.


Meditation With Horses
Thursday, Nov. 17, 12:45–2 p.m.

Learn a visualization meditation to practice with animals or on your own.


Knitting and Needle Arts
Thursdays, 2 to 4 p.m.

Join the Healing Garden community and friends in an open knitting circle. Enjoy snacking and chatting with your yarn project!


Walking Group
Wednesdays, 9 a.m.
Meets:  11/17, 11/23, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21

Meet at the Healing Garden at 9:00am on Wednesdays through the fall and come for a walk. Walk with company for exercise and gather for snacks in the Garden. Walk around the Gardens or into Harvard. You decide!


Restorative Yoga
Tuesday, Nov. 22, 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Cost: $10
Restorative Yoga is a practice that uses a quiet meditative environment with the supports of bolsters, mats and blankets to restore mental, emotional and physical energies. All levels welcome. Yoga mat
provided. 


Pelvic floor, Sexual Health and Wellbeing
Open to the community
Wednesday, Nov. 30, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $10
Pelvic floor/sexual dysfunction and sexuality is often a missing topic in the treatment of cancer.


Expressive Arts Support Group
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1 to 2:30pm

This support group will meet weekly offering a range of expressive arts activities from Mosaics in December, Handmade Books in January and Paper Mache Sculpting in February.


Mindful Yoga
Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $10
This is a 90 minute class that integrates mindfulness techniques with yoga healing practices.


Medical Marijuana Discussion Group
Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1 to 2:30 a.m.
Cost: $10
This group is designed to answer your questions about the benefits and risks of & access to the use of medical marijuana to alleviate cancer symptoms.


Eating Soups and Other Immune Boosting Deliciousness

Community Picnic
FREE on any day
Meet your friends at the Healing Garden and bring a picnic lunch. There are shady outdoor places to sit and air conditioning inside. Come any day to visit our outdoor gardens, Monday through Thursday to cool off in the Garden Room


BEMER Mat
1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 12:30 to 4 p.m.

BEMER stands for Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation. BEMER applied by laying on a mat which provides specifically designed electromagnetic impulses to correct any lack of energy within each cell of the body, improving circulation and the oxygenation of tissues.


Meditative Drumming

Qigong: Finding the Force Within
Thursdays, 2 to 3 p.m. – New time!

Cost: $10 for clients and community
Combining the vehicles of Tai Chi and Qigong, this practice incorporates ancient healing art practices to promote living mindfully.


Writing for Wellness
Thursdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $10
For those on a healing or spiritual path, writing can be soul soothing. This workshop is designed to inspire and support you on your individual writing journey.
