My name is Stacie Cassat Green and I write to ask for your vote for library trustee this May.
It has been my privilege to serve our community as a library trustee since 2014. The Harvard Public Library is a gem and truly the heart of our community. It is a place for all ages, and in a town of our size, a “third space” for people to come together.
As a child, my town’s library was my happy place. Through reading, I was able to travel the world, meet new people, and fuel my imagination. Historically, public libraries have provided free access to knowledge for everyone. Today, they do that and more—they provide a way for communities to come together and share resources beyond books.
I’m proud of what my colleagues on the Board of Trustees, our library director, and I have been able to accomplish to meet the evolving needs of our community. We redid our website to make it easier to use. We created a strategic plan setting goals for our future. We updated the A/V equipment throughout the library. We improved the exterior by adding patio furniture and shade sails behind the library, and an outdoor pavilion for larger programming in front. Currently, we are in the last phase of a needs assessment of our interior space. Projects to watch out for include structural work on the floors in Volunteers Hall (those charming squeaks hint at some issues) and a more inviting young adult room for our teens.
If re-elected, my priorities include continuing to work on interior renovations, supporting our staff to create an exciting schedule of programming in the pavilion, kicking off the next strategic plan to set new goals for the future, championing the thoughtful work of our director and staff, and remaining agile enough to respond to community needs not yet imagined.
It would be an honor to continue to serve as a library trustee. Please vote on May 6. Your voice adds to the vibrancy of our community!
