Explore the unique treasures located within the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area in a fun-‐filled, regional celebration beginning Saturday, May 14th through Saturday, May 22nd. Expe-‐rience the unique natural, historical and cultural “treasures” within our 45 communities during the nine days of Hidden Treasures 2016. Enjoy historical tours, nature walks and special collec-‐tions and exhibits that connect you to the heritage, history and landscapes that make up the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
Building on the success of the 2015 pilot year with 100 programs being offered by over 70 or-‐ganizations, the 2016 region-‐wide event has something for everyone. All programs are free with activities centered around art collections, natural spaces and historical objects, documents and events. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about a “treasure” hiding in plain sight!
From architecturally significant historic buildings to unique geological features and their history to restored grand pianos that let you channel composers of the past, each treasure has been carefully selected for inclusion in this program. Open-‐houses, guided walks, and tours are just some of the ways each treasure’s story will be revealed.
“Building upon last year’s successful Hidden Treasures weekend, we are pleased to offer a week long celebration of the unique natural, cultural and historic “treasures” located within the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. With more than 100 free activities offered by partner organizations there is something new for everyone to discover during Hidden Treasures 2016,” explained Patrice Todisco, Executive Director. “We encourage you to visit our new website discoverhiddentreasures.org and follow us on FaceBook and Twitter to see all that is happening.”
