I am astounded that a state representative, Tom Kinch, would reply to our selectman, Leo Blair, that the Devens Regional Enterprise Zone (DREZ) is apparently not representative of what we always believed was a republic. Since when? For how long? I must admit that in recent years actions seem to be favoring the vocal rather than the majority opinions, but that we still operated according to the belief of a representative democracy. Do we really live in such a different world from what we grew up in?
I believe Benjamin Franklin stated after our Constitution was established that our founding fathers had given us a republic and it was now up to us to keep it. How are we doing?
