Richard Duncan, Information Technology teacher at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, has been selected as the 2013 Air Force Association’s Massachusetts State Teacher of the Year.
Mr. Duncan was also named the association’s #178-Paul Revere Chapter’s Teacher of the Year.
Keith M. Taylor, Paul Revere Chapter president for the Air Force Association, made the announcement recently. The association sponsors the CyberPatriot Program, of which Mr. Duncan serves as an advisor.
This year, Monty Tech’s Marine Corps JROTC CyberPatriot Team won second place in the All-Service Division of the CyberPatriot V National Finals Competition held in March in National Harbor, MD. A total of 800 teams from every state in the nation competed in the division.
To win the state title, Mr. Duncan’s credentials and accomplishments were reviewed by judges from four Air Force Association chapters.
CyberPatriot is the national high school cyber defense competition created by the Air Force Association to inspire high school students to consider careers in cyber-security and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Monty Tech has participated in the program since 2010 and has competed in competitions on the chapter, state and national levels.
