With sun and 70-degree temperatures, this year’s Good Friday Walk on April 2 proved to be a perfect walk day for the more than 300 walkers, from more than 20 towns, who collectively walked over 1,700 miles. This outstanding, cooperative effort could not have been such a success without the support of more than 50 volunteers, the hosting church of St. Theresa’s/Holy Trinity Parish, the local newspapers, the Harvard Department of Public Works, the Harvard Police Department, and the local scout troops. Altogether, the walk received pledges nearing $20,000 to benefit Loaves & Fishes and Sharing Inc., with donations still arriving.
In this year of challenging economic hurdles for many people, these funds are urgently needed. Both Loaves & Fishes, serving people in Ayer, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Littleton, and Shirley, and Sharing, Inc., helping people in the rural South, are indebted to the generosity of people within our local communities. Many thanks to all who participated in the Good Friday Walk—we are enormously grateful for your support.
