Supports Sobalvarro

March 14, 2008

I endorse Marie Sobalvarro for Harvard selectman.

I’m a longtime resident and have recently become re-involved in town activities. I happened upon the recent Volunteer Fair, which was held at our new library in Volunteers Hall. I volunteered for the first time in years because of Marie’s call to action. She sent out e-mails, worked out the “to-dos,” and, in general, inspired action. She managed the organization and execution of the event in under two weeks, a feat that would have taken some career organizers months. She was graceful in leadership, firm in direction of what had to happen, and resourceful in coaching us to the end-game, the first Volunteer Fair.

I’ve attended several recent Finance Committee meetings (on which Marie serves), a tri-board meeting, and other town events, and am convinced that our town needs Marie’s class of leadership to guide us into the coming years.

Harvard has fared well over the decades that I have lived here. We’ve maintained our rural heritage at the same time we’ve attracted young parents who wanted their children to have the same excellent education that my son had here at Bromfield. I support Marie’s candidacy because of her experience of, and participation in, the life of Harvard.
