In the past week, police made eight motor vehicle stops, seven resulting in verbal warnings and one in a written warning or citation. Officers also checked on two disabled motor vehicles, made three well-being checks, issued or renewed one firearm license, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, May 14
At 8:53 a.m. an officer noticed a speed limit sign near the intersection of Still River and Prospect Hill roads had fallen down; the Department of Public Works was asked to right it. At 12:22 p.m. someone called to say a dog was barking on Depot Road. At 7:46 p.m. a Littleton Road resident reported seeing a black Lab run into the woods. At 7:51 p.m. Ayer police asked for backup after someone called 911, then hung up.
Wednesday, May 15
At 7:37 a.m. a Tahanto Trail resident reported their Swedish vallhund was missing. The animal control officer was notified, and police units on patrol were also informed. At 2:20 p.m. a caller reported a black Mercedes driving up and down Blanchard Road and checking mailboxes; the car was gone when police arrived. At 2:34 p.m. an officer told a work crew on Lancaster County Road to keep the roadway clear.
Thursday, May 16
At 12:03 a.m. a Stow Road resident told police she was receiving harassing messages from a man she had met online. At 3:05 a.m. someone on Jacob Gates Road called 911 to say there was a snake on their fireplace mantel. Police alerted the animal control officer, who told the person to call an area critter-control company. At 6:12 a.m. a 911 caller reported a low-hanging utility line on Prospect Hill Road. At 11:50 a.m. police advised an Old Littleton Road resident on a civil matter. At 5:46 p.m. someone called asking for help with a turtle that was in the middle of Stow Road; the turtle was gone when police arrived. At 7:36 p.m. a caller reported someone driving a blue Subaru while a young child was sticking its head out the sunroof.

Saturday, May 18
At 12:11 a.m. Harvard police were called to assist Bolton officers with a break-in and burglary on Bare Hill Road in Bolton. A 35-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, both from Lowell, were arrested and charged with trespassing and breaking and entering; the man was also charged with resisting arrest.

Monday, May 20
At 8:31 a.m. a caller reported road hazards on Mass. Ave. At 11:25 a.m. a woman phoned to say she had been bitten by a dog while delivering flowers at a house on Old Littleton Road; the incident was referred to the animal control officer. At 4:09 p.m. a 911 caller reported cars speeding on Still River Road. At 6:11 p.m. an officer investigated a case of identity theft. At 8 p.m. a Pinnacle Road resident called 911, saying a landscaping company had torn up his lawn without permission; a police report was filed.
