The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects our right to freedom of speech. It interests me that the way in which words are used, whether positive or negative, can be very telling about who a person really is. I support the right of all people to express themselves in whatever way they want to.
Today I read about Don Ludwig, a Select Board member and recent chair of that board. In exercising his constitutional right using the First Amendment he let us know who he really is. It is my understanding that he posted numerous comments on “X” that were offensive to women, the LGBTQ+ community, and people of color. I was disappointed and upset by what I read, but in a way appreciative at the same time because in using his First Amendment right, Ludwig revealed who he is. His written opinions in no way represent my views or opinions. If this is how Mr. Ludwig feels, I don’t believe he should represent our community in any way and I feel he should resign from the Select Board.
