I wish to express my support for two candidates running for the Select Board and two running for library trustee. Each of them has common sense and is deeply invested in our town.
Eve Wittenberg has served many roles over the years. Most recently she served as chair of the Conservation Commission. She has an impressive resume and works at the TH Chan School of Public Health. I listened to her speak recently and was impressed by her clarity and commitment to having the Select Board have better communication with the public in the future.
Ahmet Corapcioglu is a person who has had a lot of success in his career due to hard work and being a keen observer. He has not served locally as much as others—but what he has done is his homework. Ahmet knows a great deal about our town by meeting with people, attending committee meetings, and reading town documents. He has great forward-thinking ideas. And he is prepared to offer 50% of his time to the position.
Stacie Green has already served as chair of the library trustees. She has a vision for the library and should be re-elected to carry out that vision of remodeling the library and modernizing the services for all to access resources in a variety of ways.
Sara Saleh has proven herself as someone who wants our town to be better. She helped form and run Arm in Arm to foster learning about our different cultures and backgrounds. She and her family took in a couple from Afghanistan when they needed a home. She is an engineer and has a compassionate approach to everything she does.
I recently attended an open house with all four candidates, and I can say that each person has integrity and a lot of energy to serve.
These are very trying times. We need people with character—people who are dedicated to all of our citizens: women, people of color, LGTBQ+, all of us. Many are feeling helpless and even hopeless right now—one thing we can do is to act locally and vote for our principles. Thank you for caring.
